Dear Golfers,

Since we decided to open a golf course in Dublin, one of our objectives was to ensure the concept of “enjoyment” at Hollystown.

Golf is a sport which challenges every golfer, it brings much enjoyment and plenty of frustration BUT what golf definitely can be defined as is “A SPORT FOR A LIFETIME".

Golf is a SPORT and at Hollystown we focus on that ethos, so we welcome all equally, men, women, visitors, members, beginners!!

When I opened Hollystown in 1992, I asked golf course architect Eddie Hackett to build 18 holes that were enjoyable for the "average" golfer. I asked Eddie, who has built or renovated about 100 courses in Ireland, to make the course scenic but also put some back tees in that would make the course challenging for the scratch golfers. While other golf course owners were building courses that were too difficult for the mid-handicapper, members and guests were having fun and enjoying the game at Hollystown.

In addition, I asked Course Superintendent, Joe Bedford, to build an additional nine holes that would complement the original 18 holes. I think you'll find that he succeeded. With 27 holes, members and visitors get excellent variety. The extra nine holes mean that we can relieve congestion at busy times. I set up the 27 holes to ensure that golfers get around quickly and rarely have to wait.

Since 2005, the course and the facilities received a €1.7 million upgrade. All the work is complete and the upgrade made everything more enjoyable for members, guests, and visitors.

Give the course a try for yourself, and hopefully you will have an enjoyable round in Hollystown.

Sincerely

Oliver
